Fast & Reliable!
After living in Japan and making multiple trips back and forth between Japan and the US, I decided to try Japan Wifi Buddy. I ordered the Unlimited Gold WiMax 2+ for 2 weeks. It was waiting in my hotel room when I arrived in Japan with all the instructions, cords, and extra battery. It worked great and was awesome to connect my phone and tablet to while traveling. Return was super easy--throw everything in the prepaid envelope and drop it in the mailbox. I would highly recommend renting from Japan Wifi Buddy!

pretty awesome
It works out of the box. Simple, easy. and machine itself is small enough to put into pocket. The only thing i have trouble with is the external battery. The charging speed in not match to the wifi router itself. Not a bit problem, just don't wait till last minute to start charging the wifi router.

Definitely 5 stars!
Great communication (Tre's wonderfully helpful, flexible and efficient!), hassle-free and of course, the mobile wifi router itself works like a charm. Worked really well even in a relatively rural area of Okinawa!

Great Price and Great Performance
I've always rented iPhones at Narita, but it was getting really expensive and I realized that using a pocket WIFI gave me all of the capabilities that I needed. If I needed to make a phone call, I can always use Skype (online number) or Line. I goofed and realized the day before my flight that I said my flight would arrive before 8 PM. I forgot that it'll take me time to pass customs and get my luggage, so I thought that I wouldn't receive my wifi router in time, so I ordered a 2nd wifi router from another company. I ended up having plenty of time to get Japan WifiBuddy's router. I was able to compare both WIFIBuddy's router and a competitor of theirs. Here are my thoughts from WIFI Buddy: -WifiBuddy had a portable battery pack to charge my router, but I never had to use it. The battery life on these things are amazing! -WifiBuddy's WIFI speeds were just as fast as the competitor, but the competitor had a cap on how much data I can use a day. -WifiBuddy had a better battery life than the competitor -WifiBuddy was cheaper than the competitor -WifiBuddy had a nice case that came with the router -WifiBuddy had an easier check out system than the competitor Overall, I would definitely use these guys again. It was nice having a router since I could connect my iPhone and laptop to it. It was also nice because I was able to help out a few foreigners at the airport figure their way around town by having them connect to my router. The portable battery pack was great because I was able to charge my iPhone to it. You can definitely travel throughout Japan without renting a Japan specific phone. You just need to get one of these and connect your home-based smart phone and you're all set! Happy travels!

The cheapest 2-month wifi rental I found, and the best customer service EVER.
JapanWifiBuddy really takes care of its customers, and they speak fluent English! Once my unit froze and I didn't know how to restart it, so I emailed them. They got back to me the same day and told me exactly what to do. The price was right, and the internet was definitely fast enough for me. There was a little bit of a slowdown after using the daily amount of highest-speed data, but it was definitely still fine for me even after that. Videos became a little tedious to buffer if I used that daily amount, but images were fast enough. And it's great that the speed just slows down a little after you hit the limit, instead of totally cutting you off from internet like some companies seem to do. Very highly recommended.
