I ordered the Platinum Japan WifiBuddy for my recent 12 day trip in Japan. The device worked very well in built-up urban areas, but had little to no effect underground, in subway tunnels, or in the wilderness of Mt Koya in Wakayama. The staff had prewarned me of this, which was appreciated, but not until I had already purchased the device. I thought that the Platinum package would have faster speeds and better access than the Silver Packages and I didn't quite realize the limitations from reading the website. It wasn't a terrible inconvenience but for my next trip. I'll definitely upgrade to the next Platinum Package. For me, having a portable wifi is indispensable and I am so grateful this service exists at all.

The buddy was excellent it connected up in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. No problems with the buddy.

Hokkaido Self Drive/ Tokyo Free & Easy. Travelled Date: Sept 2016 *A Must Have Wifi!!! ***Booked- The Platinum Plus WifiBuddy. We were more concerned about the coverage since will be going to RURAL areas in Hokkaido and was recommended to Premium Plus. ♡Connectivity♡Great Speed ~ Google Maps, Tv Dramas, Downloading, Social Media, Fast speed uploading photos!!! ♡Hokkaido- Hakodate, Lake Toya, *Especially Noboribetsu*, Furano, Biei, Asahikawa, Jozankei, Otaru Sapporo, Chitose, Tokyo, Mount Fuji etc. ☆☆☆Driving along the mountainous or more rural areas and connection coverage was perfect, perfect, perfect!!! Especially driving through tunnels coverage was perfectly fine too. ♡Customer Service- Great customer service! Quick, very helpful email replies was excellent. Especially in English was a plus point! ♡Convenient Pick-up Location- We were also given few options to pick up- Free delivery. (Picked up at Hokkaido Hakodate> Hotel) ♡Item ~ Fully charged the moment you receive it. ♡Battery Life – Estimated~ It lasted more than 12 hours. (Starts from 8am till late night.) Speed was much faster than some hotels~ especially in Hokkaido. ♡Return Wifi Set- Convenient, Simple, Fast and Easy!!! We just drop at any Airport Postal Service. Was Super Fast took us less than 5mins to return. ☆☆☆1st Wifi Rental was the Best Experience. Will definitely rent Wifi Buddy when we are back in Japan!

I rented a wifi buddy during my first trip to Japan and I have to say, it's great! It provided web access even in the remotest areas of Japan - countryside, on the Shinkansen, etc., with no problems whatsoever. The staff make renting and using the wifibuddy really easy and convenient. I will most definitely use one again in the future and for certain go with Japan Wifi Buddy! Highly recommended!

First of all no discount or coupon was offered for me to post this. As a background I have rented from two other services other than JWB (globaladvancedcomm [GAC], and one other company where the device never arrived), both were about twice the price. GAC was very expensive, and it was throttled very often. JWB, was the opposite. It was fast (I had the platinum plus), and I never reached the limit. It’s reception was great throughout Tokyo, wherever I went, and it lasted most of the day on a single charge. I am definitely using their service again.

Our wifi buddy was waiting for us at our hotel when we arrived. It worked perfectly for our entire vacation and returning it was as simple as mailing it back in a provided envelope.

I have no problem on the renting process and using the device. Rent process is simple and easy. The device is very good, it also came with a mobile battery which helps a lot if I'm using the device for a long time or if I don't have time to recharge the device the night before. Signal reception is flawless, it has good signal in Kansai and Tokyo area, and also in Nikko.

Though a tad bit more expensive than other services, this one is great! Pickup and dropoff were easy and convenient, and the service for the Wifi was great as well... just wish I would have reserved a faster/higher capacity one earlier. Would definitely use again if I get to return back to Japan!

Fantastic service. The router worked perfectly and without any problems until I screwed it up. Once that happened I had non-stop, immediate and responsive help - in English! Fixed the issue right away. Thanks so much!
