Very efficient except battery runs out by the evening. Good that there is a back up battery along.

Japan Wifibuddy was great. They were very easy to contact and ensured the device was available for me at the hotel when I arrived. Speeds were great and there were only one or two times over the course of two weeks where I lost connectivity. My only complaint would be the battery. The Diamond rental claimed it would last 12+ hours and come with an external battery, but I found that it seemed to only last around 6 hours before needing to be recharged. The external battery also seemed to run out quicker than expected, although I don't remember exactly how long. Overall, it was a great service and I would use them again in a heartbeat.

My wife and I agreed that renting the pocket wifi was the best decision we could have made on our 2 week trip to Japan!

We used the wifibuddy for 9 days in Tokyo, Kyoto and Okinawa with no issues. We relied on it exclusively as we were sightseeing for getting around and looking up places. Since we had it on all day, it was nice to have the provided back up battery to recharge in the middle of the day while we were out. Pick up and drop off was easy. We did not have any connectivity issues but we didn't really go off the beaten path.

We rented the WifiBuddy with Unlimited data, and everything from pick up to drop off was so simple. We had it from literally the moment we arrived in Haneda airport to when we checked in on our return flight. The device itself had a great battery life and was extremely easy to connect to, and came with a backup charger. It worked great and it was wonderful to be connected literally everywhere so we could always look up directions or business hours. I can't imagine trying to navigate Japan any other way, the WifiBuddy made our trip so much easier!

I used the Wifi buddy for 2 months with the diamond package and it fitted all my needs for uploading videos to youtube. The overall price for renting it for that period was relatively cheap considering I had top speed nearly everywhere I went with the exception of a couple of places. But even then the speed didn't drop too much and was still a good connection. The only problem I had was with the external battery pack as it on charged the device less than half before the battery pack lost power even though it was fully charged. And also the fact that you need a credit card to rent it. Over all I would definitely recommend using Japan Wifi buddy

Connection was perfect everywhere, where we have been in Japan. Receipt and drop-off were hassle-free and fast, overall cost is reasonable.

We had a great use of our Wi-Fi buddy. We were mainly in big cities and it worked out well. It is small, portable, and comes with all the equipment we need. We had the silver Wi-Fi buddy which had enough high sooed internet for our navigational uses. We were greatful it was unlimited so we never had to worry about overage charges and could do social media in the slow speed after we we done navigating for the day. Although it was a little too slow to desire to send more than a few pictures, it met all our needs. The only issue we had is that putting everything into our pick made it too high for return in the mail slots (which are more narrow than they are in the US). We had to unseal, leave a plug out of the cloth pouch and just in the envelope, and tape at the airline desk, which was doable. We highly recommend.

I wouldn’t hesitate using this again in the future. Everything was excellent!

Having our WifiBuddy was a game changer for our trip. When cell phone reception was poor, the WifiBuddy always came through. Great for navigation and looking up store and restaurant hours on the fly! Battery life was pretty good (we were able to get by charging it every night, but carried around the extra battery pack just in case). It was easy to pick up and drop off from the Narita airport. We couldn’t recommend this more!

WiFi Buddy made the process simple and the cost was very fair. No problems with network availability and the extra power pack easily lasts a long day out and about.

I was hesitant and anxious about the process, but this is so easy. The pocket wifi was delivered to my hotel (Saeko even contacted my hotel to ensure that my name was on the hotel guest list since I was part of a tour) and was waiting for me at the front desk when I checked in. Easy to connect (even my mom was able to do it on her own), kept in my back pocket throughout my tour. When done, I just put everything in the return envelope which was included and dropped off at the post office at the airport. Wifi connection was smooth throughout my trip (except through long tunnels, and Japan has a lot of them, but that happens everywhere). I was conservative in my usage of data, but you're provided 100GB - I only used 11GB on my 12 day trip. If/when I return to Japan, I will definitely rent again. I definitely recommend Japan WifiBuddy!

The product delivers on its promise and works everywhere,it only lost connection when going through a tunnel (as you would expect).

Very easy to reserve a wifi buddy, pick up was easy, and returning it was easy as well.

No hassle, was delivered on the spot, confirmed in advance to make sure my name on the reservation matched the passport. Worked well all over, except perhaps inside the subway stations.

I probably could have gotten away with a Platinum, but I waited too long and they were all taken. It was nice having 100% reliable, speedy bandwidth the entire time we were in Japan (I think we lost signal once, in a subway tunnel somewhere between Chiyoda and Marunouchi stations). The device was waiting for us at the airport post office, and we returned it in the mailer at the same place on the day we left. Literally the most complicated thing about the entire rental was figuring out which of the ESSIDs printed on the back to use. The rental was worth it just to avoid dealing with the nightmare that is "free" wifi in Japan. Would rent from wifibuddy again without hesitation.

Everything was perfect! From the out of hours pick up at Haneda International (I recommend this even if not out of hours, as all you have to do on arrival is go upstairs to get it, bit take a bus to the domestic terminal like the others...), to the fact that the device was charged from the start, to the simple straight forward instructions, to the instant full coverage, to the length of the charge and the extra spare portable charger! Communication was quick and easy, and when returning, the poping it back in the post box BEFORE going through couldn’t have been simpler. This is definitely a must for anyone coming to Japan. It may be a little more expensive than the other companies (which I have also tried) but this service is 5 star! I will definitely used them again, and recommend too! Thank you to Japan WiFiBuddy for providing an efficient wonderful service.

It’s definitely helpful. It gets super hot around mid day then dies. I only recommend 2 people to use it at a time instead of 4 because it gets really hot and dies faster when ego is being used.
